Dr. David Brackett has worked in the field of additive manufacturing (AM) since 2006 and has extensive knowledge of AM and how it can be used to create end-use parts with improved performance. In 2015, David joined the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) which is the home of the UK National Centre for AM. He is the technology manager for the AM R&D team who develop capability and understanding of AM, and support effective industrial adoption. He has significant experience in writing successful research bids, managing innovative projects, leading teams of research engineers, and in disseminating research findings through conferences and publications. Prior to joining the MTC in 2015, David worked in two of the world’s leading AM research groups: Loughborough University, UK (2006-2012) and The University of Nottingham, UK (2012-2015), where his main interests were in exploiting the design freedoms of AM through novel design methods.
